ALFA Partners reach out to schools
At a first glance, education does not seem to be part of the core business of the ALFA partners. However, most ALFA partners are involved in educational activities of some sort. The new information centre presents developments in the Rhine area
The setup of the house "Leben am Strom" [Living by the river"] is part of the Rhineland-Palatinate project, the greatest flood retention area in the upper Rhine river valley. This retention area is called "Polder Wörth/Jockgrim" and has a retention capacity of about 18.05 million cubic metres.

In France, there is a special procedure called a “public debate”, which aims to deal with major development projects or infrastructures. It allows citizens, stakeholders, elected officials, the press and other parties involved to gain information, to express their opinions and share ideas on the projects and their consequences. The Hördt floodplain reserve retention area is part of the differentiated system of flood protection in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany.
