The second edition of the family event “KomeNete”
In cooperation with her partners the “Regionaal Landschap Kleine en Grote Nete” organised the second edition of “KomeNete” in Herentals. This family event around the water courses of the regional landscape took place on the 21st of August. The Flemish Environment Agency, partner in this event, used this opportunity to show her fish pass and the new ALFA pedestrian passages on the Kleine Nete.
“KomeNete” was brought to life as an event for all age groups within the area, which would bring visitors closer to the landscape and the life of the creek valleys. It is perfect for enjoying an active life style or simply relaxing with a bite or drink from the region. This year all activities took place in only one location, in the Spaans Hofpark. It is a famous name among the people from Herentals and a perfect opportunity for outsiders to discover the green pearl inside the ring of Herentals.
From 9am to 6pm many participants went on (poetry) walks and free kayak trips. Furthermore, visitors learned more about the fish of the Kleine Nete which were shown in aquariums, enjoyed the culinary and melodic heritage of the region or tapped some juice with the “sappentrapper” (EN: juice tap). New information tables of the bordering nature reserve “Hellekens” have also been introduced. Last but not least, visitors could take a walk through the brand new pedestrian passage of the city ring road Ringlaan, realised within the ALFA-project.
